It is a very good exercises book for all players at all levels and combined with the other 2 volumes can make up an excellent training regime.

You truly do need this series of books if you want to truly start working on your skill in your trumpet playing.

The Vizzutti books are not for beginners. But, more advanced players will gain much from working out of them.I own Books 1 and 2 in the A. Vizzutti method series. I use book 1 daily for its Technical Studies, p. 32-47. I do one/day as he recommends on the opening pages, and I push the metronome up, little by little, repeating each key pattern 4 or 5 times per breath. (I practice them mostly very softly, p or softer, concentrating on a full core sound as well as fingers). And the two little etudes, midweek and end week, are fun to rip through.I find that Vizzutti's technique drills, practiced daily, make a nice complement to Herbert Clarke's Technical Studies. I also recommend Bryan Davis's Combination Drills books. Vizzutti + Clarke + Davis = greatly improved technique, control, and musicality.I also like to work through several of the flexibility studies presented in Vizzutti's Bk 1 every so often, two or three times a week — though my mainstay for that remains Arban's pp. 42-47 (in my old old edition, which my teacher had me purchase when I was in the 7th grade in 1959!). On non-gig days, I always end my playing day with those Arban pages of flexibility work, working with a metronome.But that's just me, I know. Still ... one can always improve.Bk 2 of Vizzutti I work out of infrequently, but the exercises are valuable, especially the "finger flex" work. On non-gig days, I always run down several of the Bk 2 studies. Some are quite tough (for me)!I didn't purchase Bk 3, because my days are full enough! But I bet it also includes very useful drills.
