This pump’s manual gave details about obvious things (like put the pump and filter box under water) but lacked other details where needed. The manual did not mention that the pump had to be positioned in exactly one spot in the filter box or the filter sponges and lid would not fit and close properly. It told me to connect the A1 nozzle to the pump as the first step, but did not show or say what the A1 nozzle was anywhere in the manual. The manual mentions having good contact between the pump body and the magnet. I don’t know what magnet they are referring to. The more I read this manual the more confused I get. I am grateful they do provide an email address for problems and customer service. I have contacted them about their “bio balls”. The manual did not explain what the round “bio balls” were for or if I needed to clean them when cleaning the pump. One bio ball did arrive broke in two on the seams. My husband reglued it.I tested the heavy pump in my sink and it did function well. I am concerned that I apparently need to put heavy weights on the filter box to keep it submerged (there is a warning label about this on the filter box and it is repeated in the manual). It is also hard to move the pump in the filter box. The pump has 4 suction cup feet that hold onto the filter box floor very tightly. I accidentally pulled out one foot from the pump trying to move the pump. It was difficult to get it back in. This may be a reliable pump. I give it 4 stars due to the manual.I am happy to say I did get an email response from the customer service in less than 24 hours about the bio balls. A later email gave me even more advice on how to make my filtration system work better.

This is a very wel made and functional pond filter. My current garden pond is relatively small and I had been using a much smaller pump / filter combition. I was amazed at how much cleaner the water was using this filter. It extracted so much extra debris that I had to clean it daily for the first 3 days, but since then it has kept the water clear and clean without an addtional cleaning for over a week.I have had a similar filter system before with the bio-balls and container. However, my previous filter box had a lid that "snapped" on and was always coming off. The lid on this unti has 4 latches that securely hold the lid in place. Perfect!The only downside to this pump, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the pump only has a 6 foot cord. That really limits where within the pond the filter can be placed. I would like to have had at least a 9 foot cord with a pump this size.Otherwise, it's a great filtration system!
