Fonctionne très bien, mais deux défauts vraiment regrettables :- L'interrupteur est quasiment inutilisable tellement il est petit et difficile à activer.- Les deux LED situées à l'avant sont dignes d'un PC gamer… elles éclairent toute la pièce et il est impossible de travailler quand elles sont dans votre champ de vision ! Même en tournant le boitier dans l'autre sens la lumière est bien trop forte. Seule solution, les débrancher avant d'insérer les SSD dans le boîtier. On perd une fonctionnalité (on ne voit plus si le boîtier est allumé ou éteint) mais le produit est enfin utilisable !

Nach dem Umsteig auf von PC auf Mac habe ich auch mein Massenspeicher-Konzept angepasst.Ursprünglich hatte ich nur eine PCIe-SSD im Thunderbolt-3-Gehäuse im Einsatz, um die allgemein als teuer angesehenen internen SSD's von Apple eine Nummer kleiner wählen zu können. Das "teuer" relativiert sich in meinen Augen, da es im Moment keine Möglichkeiten gibt, bei externen SSD's die Bandbreite von 64 GBit/s auch nur im Ansatz komplett auszunutzen, was mit den internen SSD's aber geht - wie einschlägig Messdaten zeigen.Für die meistens Anwendungsfälle muss aber die externe Platte gar nicht so schnell sein und ein volles Ausnutzen der vergleichsweise bescheidenen SATA-III-Bandbreite von etwa 560/530 MB/s schreibend/lesend reicht aus. Hier kommt bewertete Gehäuse ins Spiel. Ich habe es mit 2 x SAMSUNG 870 QVO 8TB bestückt und betreibe es aktuell als RAID 1. Das entstandene 8-TB-Medium beherbergt 3 Partitionen mit Verschlüsselung:- 1 x 4TB Backup Stufe 1 (dauerhaftes Hintergrund-Backup über Time Machine- 1 x 2TB Archiv für private Daten- 1 x 2TB Archiv für geschäftliche DatenMechanik/Elektrik:----------------------Das Gehäuse ist 1A, stabil und sauber verarbeitet, alles passt wie es soll.Das gleiche gilt für Platine, Steckverbinder und Kabel.Inbetriebname/Einrichtung:---------------------------------Die Ausstattung mit Festplatten / SSD ist simpel und eine Sache von Minuten, auch wegen der erqähnten guten Verarbeitung und der daraus resultierenden Passform.Die Bedienung über den rückwärtigen Taster und Wahlschalter ist praktisch fool-proof: Modus wählen Knöpfchen festhalten, auf die entsprechende Antwort der LEDs waren - fertigLeistung:-----------Mit RAID 1 und Verschlüsselung erreiche ich selbst am Thunderbolt-4-Hub (CalDigit Element Hub) an dem zwei Apple Studio Displays hängen knapp 500 MB/s schreibend und 530 MB/s lesend. Weitere Tests habe ich nicht durchgeführt. Allerdings würde ich erwarten, dass da im RAID-0-Mode und direkt am Thunderbolt-Port des Mac noch einmal eine Steigerung drin ist. Da ich aber unbedingt ein One-Cable Setup haben wollte (Macbook Pro wird über ein einzige Thunderbolt-Kabel mit STrom versorgt und mit der Peripherie verbunden), bestand kein Anlass. Was ich schon sagen kann ist, dass die gemachten Leistungsangaden für RAID 1 auch für den direkten Anschluss am Thunderbolt gelten dürften. Grund: Mit meiner PCIe-SSD konnte ich die Rest-Bandbreite, die die Versorgung der beiden Displays übrig lässt, auf ca. 690 MB/s beziffern, so dass klar ist, dass der RAID-Verband hier nicht durch die (Rest-)Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit des Thunderbolt-Hubs ausgebremst wird.Das Ganze funktiponiert übrigens "bus-powered". Das Gehäuse wird problemlos von meinem Thunderbolt-Hub parallel zum Macbook Pro und dem externen Sound-Modul direkt über Thunderbolt mit Strom versorgt. Das mitgelieferte NEtzteil konnte im Karton bleiben.Kleinere Nachteile:----------------------1. LED'sEinerseits sind die frontseitig angebrachten zwei LEDs (1 x pro SSD/HDD) eine wichtie Informationsquelle, wenn das RAID-System doch einmal Schluckauf bekommt. Andererseits ist einer großen Vorteile deds Gehäuses seine kompakte Größe und die Möglichkeit, das Gerat entsprechend dezent am Arbeitsplatz unterzubringen. Diese sind aber sehr grell und speziell beim Arbeiten in abgedunkelter Umgebung und dem Blinken der LED's bei Aktivität der regelmäßig im Hintergrund laufenden SIcherung per Time Machine ist das lästig. Empfindliche Zeitgennoss:Innen sollte hier vielleicht je nach Unterbringung des Laufwerks über eine Abdeckung nachdenken.2. Power ManagementAuch wenn der Stromverbrauch von SSD's nicht groß ist, würde ich mir wünschen, dass sich das Gehäuse beim Abschalten des Mac in einen Sleep Mode begibt, in dem dann auch die LED's aus sind. Wenn mein Mac aus geschaltet ober abgedockt ist, weil ich mich auf Reisen begebe, bleibt das Gehäuse aktiv, während andere Peripherie wie z.B. die Displays und auch das externe Soundmodul (EVO 8) sich schlafen legen. Wenn man Apple-Peripherie herstellt und vertreibt, sollte man das beherrschen.Fazit:------Die beiden kleinen Nachteile isnd für mich kein hinreichendes Argeument für Punktabzug und aus meiner Sicht kann ich uneimgeschränkte Kaufempfehlung aussprechen für alle, die auf dem externen Datenspeicher nicht unmittelbar Schreibleistung im GB/s-Bereich brauchen, sondern mit "normalen" 500 MB/s auskommen.

Originally, I figured I would just get a single SSD enclosure and work with that. But when I ran across this item, I could see the potential: RAID-1 redundancy for SSD, if only I could find a pair of SSDs priced "reasonably" (it's all relative when it comes to SSDs) enough to accept for my budget.Rather than buy one of the two apparent leaders (Samsung and Western Digital), I found that Crucial makes what appears to be an equally highly-rated 4TB SSD for about $100-$150 less (each) compared to the category leaders. So I figured I'd take a chance. If the lower priced SSD drives fail, then hopefully the RAID-1 configuration will offer me extra insurance -- at the price of this enclosure that seemed like a good deal to me.(Note: I always do cloud and secondary physical drive backups, so my OWC RAID-1 is not a single point of failure, but it's a nice feature to have anyway when you are as paranoid about data loss as I am)Assembly was easy enough -- just following the instructions, I can see that the SSDs will be solidly screwed into place and WILL NOT move when installed properly.The tricky part was figuring out how to complete the configuration for my Mac. Some specific steps NOT described in this documentation (but kinda described elsewhere at OWC and from other sources) were necessary:* Flip the switch from "OFF" to "ON" on the back of the OWC unit (while unplugged)* Change the RAID config dial to "RAID-1" (or other if you are planning to use it differently)* Then, you can plug in the drive to a USB-C port on your Mac (in my case anyway) -- the external power supply is not required when you are running low power SSDs* Press and hold the rear reset button for 3 seconds (important to reset the RAID config)* Using Disk Utility, you need to format the OWC unit as "GUID Partition Format" and set the File System as "APFS", giving the disk a name like "My Disk" (or whatever you choose)* Using Disk Utility, you may need to further format the logical "My Disk" volume as APFS (APFS is recommended for newer Mac use and is better for SSDs)* Now here's a tricky point... after I did this Disk Utility showed two disks, one blue and one red (apparently not working). It looked wrong and something seemed off, but the solution was to simply eject the entire disk (from Finder or Disk Utility). unplug it, then plug it back in. Once plugged back in, everything registered in Disk Utility just fine (a single 4TB disk, which is what we should expect with RAID-1, where the two disks are supposed to be "hidden" behind the RAID hardware controller and appear as a single unit)Once I figured out these steps in MacOS, everything seemed to go pretty amazingly well. I'm only a day into using this but I ran a large backup and have run disk checks and watched the lights and all seems good.I am still a little confused about the behavior of the flashing lights; when a write occurs, both flash in tandem, but when reading it seems only one flashes while the other stays a solid blue. No red lights so far, so I assume this is normal and good working behavior.Anyway, I wanted to pass along a little bit of learning from my own experience. I will update if necessary, but I assume some negative reviews might be related to particular setup difficulties or OS/hardware configurations. This is inevitable with a product built to work for a wide variety of configurations, I think.Because some of the setup was indeed a little confusing at first, I might have given this product four stars, but because it seems to be unique on the market for its size and quality of build, I really have to give it five stars. In a perfect world we would have five or ten competitors producing a similar product all of which are great and provide some different options for different situations. At the moment that does not seem to be the case, and in my own case the end result seems to be extremely good, so I will grant the five stars until and unless I am proved wrong.I did not run any specific performance tests but informally it appears to be much faster than my previous spindle HDD drives, and that is good enough for my case.A really high quality feeling product with a few setup mysteries, perhaps, but bottom line I am pleased!

Solid device for the price. I have two SSDs striped and it works flawlessly. Very easy to setup and the build quality is very good.My only complaint is the tiny little power switch at the back. I guess it’s made that way to avoid accidentally turning it off but it’s too small. It’s really hard to reach behind it to turn it off.

Cercavo un contenitore per dischi SSD a 2 posti da tempo, e devo dire che finora con questo prodotto i risultati sono molto buoni.La velocità dei dati è molto buona, e il contenitore è molto valido, ben costruito e robusto, e inoltre è possibile gestire gli SSD in vari modi, e sopratutto in modo indipendente.Nessun problema software, basta collegarlo e va, e nessun problema di alte temperature.Sembra poi una banalità, ma anche i riporti in gomma nella parte inferiore fanno bene il loro lavoro, visto che tengono il contenitore ben saldo sulla superficie della scrivania, e non è così per tutti.Spero solo che abbia un'ottima durata nel tempo.

Really sturdy build, all screws provided as well as the USB cables, runs 2 mechanical HDD's (in JBOD configuration) just fine without the need for an external PSU. All in all, a very impressive piece of kit, built to last. Another winner from OWC. They're not the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. I'd heartily recommend this product.
