…because it will make you look like one! Bulky jacket, heavy and stiff material. Uncomfortable and unflattering. I felt like a mummy when I put it on. Bleh.

I bought this jacket to wear on a trip to Alaska & it proved to be the toastiest-warm coat I've ever had! We reached Alaska during an unseasonably warm spell & this coat is quite bulky to carry around - & not a lightweight item - but it came into its own as soon as the temperature dropped or a chill wind started. Others were shivering on a whale-watching boat trip but I was really cosy! I love the zip-up, fleece-lined pockets which are deep enough for gloves/phone etc not to fall out if I haven't done up the zips. I usually have trouble with hoods coming down over my face but the hood on this jacket stayed in place & the cold wind didn't seem to get into it at all around my face. The zip comes up to the end of the collar so in really bad weather, my face would be well protected (adding a pair of ski goggles would protect my face completely). I love the colour too. 2 possible improvements: I'd have liked to be able to open the main front zip from the bottom but it's only 1-way (hard to get something out of my trouser pockets) & an inside security pocket would be nice (but I appreciate in wet/cold weather you don't want to open the jacket to find anything anyway). I haven't tested it in heavy rain but the jacket seemed to shrug off the little rain we did experience.
