I cannot in all honesty vouch for the claims that this filter will deliver enhanced audio performance. In its simplest terms, the filter is nothing more than a series LC circuit which will certainly help suppress random spikes on the 12v line, but this is unlikely to be a detectable improvement with modern in-car systems as most CE approved equipment has an LC circuit already built in.This filter has a 1.5A fuse (or that could be 15A, the imprint is quite poor). This fuse is essential as the filter contains a protection diode. In the event that the supply voltage is accidentally reversed the diode would conduct and blow the fuse. The unit itself is small and compact and very easy to insert into a circuit. Black is negative, Yellow is positive. The input and output leads are identified on the circuit board.I would suggest this filter may be more suitable in older vehicles with older equipment where a reduction in ignition interference may be gained.

These car noise filters arrived in a simple zip lock bag. They have two sets of wires that are clearly marked IN and OUT. Flipping up the lid of the case reveals a small noise suppression circuit with a 30mm fast blow 15A glass fuse (F15AL250V).I recently fitted a new head unit to my old estate car that I use as a workhorse. It worked fine but I had some alternator whine coming through. I fitted one of these into the constant power cable of the ISO connector by simply cutting the wires, soldering the filter in and covering the joints with some heat shrink (see picture). The alternator whine has now gone.I tried the other one on a friend’s car radio that was picking up a lot of interference from the car’s electrics and it made no difference at all, so obviously these work well for some interference types but not others. This filter removed the alternator whine from my car radio and, despite the other not doing anything on my friends car, at the current price of £7.79 for two (£3.90 each) they’re worth a shot if you have interference on your car radio and I’m giving them 5 stars.
