This is a collection of 43 of the Carpenters songs. They include all the ones that we fans expect (Solitaire, Superstar, Top of The World, etc) and covers (eg Calling Occupants, When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever, Ticket To Ride).It's a thick book at 231 sides with a square glued spine rather than folded and stapled.The score is clear with 4 rows of music per page that has guitar chords / song tune / lyrics / treble & bass piano staves.It is typical of a Hal Leonard book. Good quality printing, accurate, although leaving the player to embellish in parts.This is a must-have for any Carpenters fan! I'd definitely buy it agian.

This is a sheet music version of the famous album anthology put out by The Carpenters. I recommend having the audio version as well as this sheet music. You will want to know exactly how Karen and Richard made this music work so well. Obviously, most of us cannot reproduce what they did. But you won't even come close if you just play the simplified notes here. If you listen carefully you will hear how Karen never sings the notes strictly and you will notice how much richer the keyboard playing is under Richard's hands. You don't need to duplicate it, but you can seek the feel and use the sheet music as a basis for building your own take on this wonderful music. The price is great and the arrangements, even if played as is, are fine for people learning to play and of intermediate experience. However, if you are an experience musician, this is a launching pad for your version of the music. Great to have in your library and for exploring this music of the 1970s and 80s.Whenever I listen to their music and arrangements I realize what a treasure we lost with her passing. So sad.But the music lives on so beautifully and her rich alto voice is always there for us to hear again.

The arrangements are simple enough yet give a sense of the recorded version. Many of the songs are suited for Ms Karen Carpenter’s vocal range, and may not suit everyone as a sing-along, unless you transpose the key yourself. The left-hand accompaniments are fairly basic, but accessible for beginner pianists. If you are a more advance pianist, just read the chords and improvise for a bigger more complex sound. Overall, this anthology of Carpenters songs is a treasure for all who appreciate their work from a very special time in popular music.
