Have you ever seen Hillary Hahn using a metallic mute? It doesn't really mute your violin. Look at how Hillary's mute look like: brass with purple "legs rubber/plastic" and it's a clip on. That's how this mute looks like! The photo doesn't display the same mute. But I love the mute I received. If you want a mute that really mutes your violin so you won't disturb your neighbours, get a rubber mute.

I have used a couple of mutes as I have practiced just due to not being very good and not wanting to bug everyone. This mute I have to say has been really good about being able to hear my tone and pitch with it a lot better than most mutes I have used and it makes me feel pretty safe putting it on the bridge compared to the other mutes I have used.

A completely different mute than photo shows, but looking at prior reviews, I knew that before purchasing. It has a hinge which means it can fit perfectly on the bridge. It's tiny and a lot less ugly than my previous ones

Realmente disminuye el sonido del violín sin afectar tanto la calidad del mismo

The mute I received has a claw-type opening to secure it to the violin bridge (similar mechanism to a hair clip) which is actually an advantage since there is no slippage and greater control when placing on the bridge. Also, the mute feet are metal coated in a soft (silicone?) sheath, so gentler on the bridge with a good muting effect, but again, not at all as pictured. I'm happy with the mute... But it's very different than I had expected
